Pillar One · Safety & Prevention

Protect Her — before the crisis, not after.

Personal safety, prevention, red flags, consent, digital safety, and bystander awareness. Protect Her is the pillar where most chapters begin — home of the flagship Red Zone Initiative — because the best crisis response is the one you never need.

Questions

Protect Her FAQ

Is Protect Her a self-defense class?

It includes hands-on self-defense fundamentals — a Sorellahood signature — but it's much broader: red-flag recognition, consent and coercion awareness, digital safety, and bystander tools. Think of it as a complete prevention skillset, with physical skills as one layer.

Will the content scare our new members?

No. Protect Her is prevention-first, never fear-based. Sessions are designed to build confidence and competence — members consistently describe them as empowering, not frightening. Sensitive topics are handled with care, and 988 and campus resources are always shared.

When should we book Protect Her programming?

August–September for the Red Zone Initiative (ideally before or during the new-member period), and April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month programming. Protect Her sessions can also run any time of year as part of an Annual Chapter Partnership.

Is this a substitute for our university's required training?

No. Sorellahood provides educational and wellness programming and is not a substitute for required university or organizational procedures, Title IX training, therapy, or legal advice. Protect Her complements — never replaces — your campus requirements.
