Flagship program · Protect Her pillar
From move-in through Thanksgiving, new members face the highest-risk window of their college experience — new freedom, new social pressure, and unfamiliar situations. The Red Zone Initiative equips members to recognize risk, protect themselves, and look out for their sisters from day one.
More than half of campus sexual assaults occur between August and November. The Red Zone is predictable — which means it's preventable.
The Red Zone Initiative is built on three movements:
The Red Zone Initiative isn't a single talk — it's the entry point to Sorellahood's full prevention system:
Timing matters. The Red Zone Initiative delivers the most protection when it runs in August or early September — before or during the new-member period. Chapters on an Annual Chapter Partnership open their year with it; it also stands alone as a single Sorella Session.
Every participant leaves with the Sister Support Toolkit — a mobile-first resource designed to stay useful after the presentation ends: Red Flags, Check On Your Sister, Bystander Tools (Direct, Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay), If She Tells You, Digital Safety, and a Resource Hub with clear pathways for relationship concerns, sexual violence, mental health, and campus help.
The Red Zone Initiative is how most chapters meet Sorellahood — but the first 90 days are just the beginning. October's healthy relationships programming, November's stress and burnout support, February's dating and consent sessions, and April's SAAM bystander training continue the work all year. Questions
The Red Zone is the period from fall move-in through Thanksgiving break, when more than half of campus sexual assaults occur. New members face new freedom, new social pressure, and unfamiliar situations — all before they've built the instincts and support networks to navigate them safely.
August or early September is ideal — before or during the new-member period, so members have the skills before the risk window peaks. Booking opens for fall chapters in the spring and summer; September dates fill first.
The core workshop runs 60–90 minutes and works for your whole chapter or new-member class. Chapters on an annual partnership extend it with officer education, follow-up sessions, and outcome measurement.
Yes. In-person delivery has the most impact — especially for the hands-on components — but virtual and hybrid formats are available for chapters nationwide.
No. Sorellahood provides educational and wellness programming. It is not therapy, legal advice, emergency response, or a substitute for required university or organizational procedures — it's a powerful complement to them.
Fall dates fill fast — tell us about your chapter and we'll hold a programming window for you.
